How a Concrete Job Runs

Most residential pours follow the same path. Knowing it ahead of time makes the week easier to plan.

  1. 1

    Phone call and site visit

You call, describe the project and we set a time to look at it. On site we measure, check drainage and access, and ask how you plan to use the space.

  2. 2

    Written estimate and choices

You receive a line-item estimate with thickness, reinforcement, finish and any permit listed. We explain the options plainly, including the less expensive ones.

  3. 3

    Demolition, grading and forms

We remove old concrete, grade and compact the base, and set forms and steel. This is when slope and drainage get locked in.

  4. 4

    Pour and finish

The concrete is placed, leveled and finished the same day, whether that is broom, smooth trowel or stamped. Control joints are cut so any cracking follows a straight line instead of wandering.

  5. 5

    Curing and cleanup

We clean up and give you a simple timeline: foot traffic in a day or two, cars after about a week. We also explain how to care for the surface going forward.

New Concrete for Every Part of Your Home

Most of our work is tear-out and replacement or a brand-new pour: driveways, patios, backyards, side yards, courtyards and walkways and sidewalks. We also build concrete steps and stairs, RV parking pads, garage floors and slabs for sheds or equipment. Stamped concrete and broom or smooth finishes are available on most of these. Each service page explains that job's own problems, process and cost drivers.

  • Driveways

New and replacement concrete driveways with a compacted base, steel reinforcement and control joints placed where cracks would otherwise choose for themselves.

  • Patios

New and replacement concrete patios with a compacted base, correct slope away from your home and a finish chosen to suit the way you use your yard.

  • Stamped Concrete

Pattern and color pressed into fresh concrete for patios, driveways and walkways, with honest advice on sealing, slip resistance and upkeep.

  • Concrete Pool Decks

New pool decks poured with the right slope, a slip-resistant finish and a surface that stays more comfortable underfoot in the sun.

  • Concrete Backyards

Whole-yard concrete planned as one layout, with slopes, joints and finishes chosen so water drains away and the surface wears evenly.

  • Concrete Slabs

Flat, well-drained slabs for sheds, hot tubs, equipment and outdoor storage, sized and reinforced for the load they will carry.

  • Steps and Stairs

New concrete steps for front entries, back doors and sloped yards, formed with even risers, grippy treads and solid reinforcement.

  • Concrete Side Yards

Narrow side yards poured with a steady fall away from your home, a firm compacted base and joints spaced to keep cracks where they belong.

  • RV Parking Pads

A thicker, reinforced slab sized to your RV or trailer, with a solid base, clean drainage and an approach your rig can roll over without cracking the edge.

  • Garage Floors

We tear out tired, cracked or oil-soaked garage slabs and pour a new reinforced floor with a dense troweled finish.

  • Concrete Courtyards

Enclosed courtyard slabs with planned drainage, careful finishes and joint layouts that line up with your walls and doors.

  • Walkways and Sidewalks

New concrete walkways and sidewalks with a compacted base, steel where it helps, planned joints and a broom or decorative finish that stays safe underfoot.

What Moves the Price of a Concrete Job

Concrete is priced by the job, not by a single per-foot number. Two patios of the same size can cost quite differently once demolition, access and finish are counted. These are the factors we walk you through.

After we see the site, you get a written line-item estimate so each part of the cost is visible. If something changes once the old concrete is out, we show you and talk it through before any extra work.

Size and thickness
Square footage matters, but so does depth. A walkway can be thinner than a driveway, and an RV parking pad needs more thickness and steel than either.
Tear-out and haul-away
Removing an old slab, especially one with heavy rebar or a second layer poured on top, adds labor and disposal. We break out what is there and haul it away as part of the job.
Access to the work area
A front driveway a truck can reach is simpler than a backyard behind a narrow side gate. Tight access can mean wheelbarrows or a pump, and that shows up in the estimate.
Grading and base
Soft soil, poor drainage or a yard that slopes toward the house all need grading and compacted base before any concrete goes down. This is the part you never see and the part that decides how long the slab lasts.
Finish and color
A broom finish is the most economical. Stamped patterns, integral color, release colors and sealer each add material and time on the pour day.
Permits
Work that touches the public right-of-way, such as a driveway approach or a city sidewalk, usually needs a city permit and inspection. We tell you up front whether your project does.

Why Homeowners Choose Us

We would rather explain a decision than sell one. Here is how we work and what stands behind it.

Experience behind every answer

We have been in business 15+ years. That experience shows up in small decisions: where a control joint should fall, how thick a driveway needs to be for a work truck, and how far to slope a patio away from your foundation.

A state contractor license

Our company is licensed by the California State License Board (CSLB). For larger residential work in California, that is the license you should ask any contractor about, and we are glad to talk through it on the phone.

Coverage after the pour

Our work comes with a 1-year warranty. We explain on the call what it covers, so you know where you stand before the first form board goes in.

Straight answers on cause and options

If an old slab sank because the base under it washed out, we tell you that, and we tell you what we will do differently with the new one. When a plain broom finish suits a side yard better than stamped concrete, we say so.

Care for the rest of your property

We protect stucco, planters and fences near the pour, keep washout off your lawn and sweep the site clean. Your home should look better when we leave, not just the new concrete.

We work throughout Long Beach and in the nearby cities of Signal Hill, Lakewood, Seal Beach, Rossmoor, Carson, Compton, Bellflower, Paramount, Cypress and Cerritos. Permit rules for driveway approaches and sidewalks vary between these cities, and we check them for your address before work starts.

Common Questions

How long until I can use my new concrete?

Most people can walk on new concrete after one to two days. Cars should wait about seven days, and heavier vehicles like an RV a bit longer. Concrete keeps gaining strength for weeks, so we give you a timeline for your specific pour.

Will my new concrete crack?

Concrete shrinks as it cures, so some hairline cracking is normal. We control it with a compacted base, the right thickness, reinforcement and control joints cut at proper spacing, so cracks tend to follow the joints. We would rather tell you this now than have it surprise you later.

Do I need a permit for a driveway or sidewalk?

Work on your own lot, such as a backyard patio, often does not need one. Work in the public right-of-way, like a driveway approach or the city sidewalk, usually does. We confirm the rules for your city and handle the permit when one is required.

Is stamped concrete worth the extra cost?

It depends on the space. Stamped concrete makes sense on patios, courtyards and entries where you want the look of stone or brick. For a side yard or a utility slab, a broom finish is often the better value, and we will say so.

Should I replace my old driveway or pour over it?

Pouring over old concrete usually carries the old cracks and settling into the new surface and raises the height at your garage and walkways. In most cases we recommend removing it and starting with a fresh base. We look at your driveway and explain the reasoning before you decide.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes. Our work comes with a 1-year warranty, and we go over what it covers when we talk through your project.

How do I get an estimate?

Call us and describe the project. We set up a visit to measure and look at the site, then give you a written line-item estimate so you can see what each part of the job costs.

About Concrete Contractor Long Beach

We are a local concrete company that works on homes across Long Beach and the surrounding cities. Our work is new concrete: driveways, patios, stamped surfaces, pool decks, steps, slabs and the walkways that connect them.

Our approach is simple. We look at the site, explain what caused the problem with the old concrete if there is one, and lay out your options with their real cost drivers. Mild coastal weather means freeze damage is rarely the issue here, so we focus on what does matter: a well-compacted base, proper slope and joints placed where they will do their job.

We care about the finish as much as the structure. Clean edges, even broom lines, crisp stamped patterns and a site left tidy are what we want you to notice every time you walk out the door.
